I think he is taking a photograph of the dish, then painting over it a little bit like on the main color lines. cool idea.

I'd love to see a step by step. It seems so hard. But it's amazing. When did you started using this technique?

Do you think it would be possible to maintain this on the bottom of a bathtub? Or do you think the water, soap and feet being on it would ruin it?

It would probably ruin it but you could put glass on top I'm guessing!

I would think you'd have to put a glass coating on it, rather than putting a sheet of glass down, because I'm sure the soap and water would just get under the glass and make it all icky :/ even with calking! :(

Okay, when I first saw this, I thought "well, what's so special about fish in some kind of baking dish?"... but now that I realised it's a painting... WOW. Great!! And a very unique kind of art, too.

I dunno if it's this artist whose work I saw some time ago, but it was the same thing : layer after layer, they pour translucid resin and paint on it. Layer after layer, and then they get a 3D effect with the paint trapped in the resin.

am i right this is painted in several layers to create the illusion of 3d poured on several layers of resin?

So the shadows are real then, and the 3D effect only works when one viewed from one specific angle?

It depends, try to paint it with as many angle as possible in mind. It is easier to achieve on fish I think.
